In a big expansion, Casa Ermelinda Freitas has invested in new infrastructures and equipment that aim to adapt its facilities to a place of worship of the route of the Wine Routes. Pretending to be an asset to the tourism and economy of the municipality of Palmela, Casa Ermelinda is identified as “a pedagogical symbol of the region, bringing to the schools the culture and history of the vine and wine, a secular art.”
The winery, equipped with the most modern technology, presents a symbiosis between the modern and the traditional, integrating in the same building a set of areas that go from the production to the stage in oak barrels and wine bottling. The diversity of spaces also includes a commercial area, a testing room and a hall for large events with a capacity of up to 400 people, all integrated in the new wine cellar.
With several prizes won in the most prestigious competitions in the world, Casa Ermelinda Freitas is proud of its main brands: Terras do Pó, Dona Ermelinda and Quinta da Mimosa, having recently won the prize for the best red wine in the world in the Vinailes Internacionales contest with the Its Syrah 2005.
