Quinta do Panascal

Quinta do Panascal dates from the 18th century and is the most important of the three magnificent properties of Fonseca Guimaraens. It is a beautiful property overlooking the river Távora offering, to whom the visit, an absolutely paradisiacal environment. It has the level A rating, which corresponds to the highest rating given to a fifth. From its vineyards came the grapes that produced the Vintage Fonseca 1994 (considered the best wine in the world). Quinta do Panascal also won the prestigious “Best of Wine Tourism 2005” in the Special Wineries Tourism category. In the March 2007 edition, the famous magazine “Decanter” included this property in the top 10 of the most romantic places of European wine regions and was the only Portuguese representation.
Located in the heart of the Douro Heritage of Mankind, Quinta do Panascal has its doors open to all those who want to visit one of the most famous farms in the region. The visitor is offered a pleasant audio tour along the vineyards, where you will be informed about the history of the company, its famous wines and its traditional production (in lagares), the Quinta and the Demarcated Region. Back to the beautiful tourism hall – from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the River Távora – you will be offered a taste of three Porto wines (“Siroco”, “Bin 27” and Tawny 10 years) and presented the Company video. There is also a small point of sale where you can buy Fonseca wines.
During the harvest, visitors can witness the steps in the wineries. The Quinta also has two rooms and terraces, which can be rented for services of lunches, dinners, snacks or simple meetings of company. The meals, of excellent quality, are prepared and supplied by the Quinta itself. Activities such as canoeing and boating are also available.
